In cooperation with our volunteers, public service announcements (PSA's) will be produced that communicate the dangers of online predators to families, youth, and senior citizens. Southern Illinois youth leaders from the LEAD SI program, will provide support with the creation, production, and development of the PSAs. |
i-Safe's curriculum consisting of 350+ lesson plans, activities, podcasts, and presentations, will act as a base for curriculum development. i-Safe instructors will present Internet safety material to interested teachers this summer, prior to the 2009-2010 school year to help educators prepare for the new Internet Safety Act. Click here for more information on the Act. |
Training will be offered to individuals interested in learning more about Internet safety and/or educating their community about safe online practices. i-Safe is scheduled to conduct three sessions in June to provide educators, law enforcement, and the community members with the tools and skills necessary for safe online use in today's electronic environment. Click on Train-the-Trainer above for additional information. |
Resources are being acquired and developed to increase public awareness and educate our communities on the need for safe Internet practices. Resources include software, print materials, and presentation-support materials. |
A marketing and promotion strategy is being developed and implemented that would ensure that the message of Internet safety is driven throughout the Connect SI region. This strategy includes PSAs, conference planning, and Speakers Bureau training. |
A trained speakers bureau will be formed that can address Internet safety anywhere in the twenty-county Connect SI region. When available, speakers can be scheduled through the Community Development and Outreach office at SIUC. |
